Christmas 2011

We wanted a change this year and decided to have Christmas in the Texas Hill Country.  This would be the first time we had to divert Santa.
Everyday at 4p my FIL feeds the deer out back.  Everyday at 4p when Dominic is in town, he ALSO feeds the deer.  I happened to look out the back window and see this.  D and Papa K were tossing deer corn at each other and cracking up!  What a sweet sight!

How do you spell mischief? D-o-m-i-n-i-c.
Oh what a sweet face that I could just eat up!  His daddy and I do a fine job of kissing it all the time!
My FIL's birthday is Dec. 24th.  His birthday gift this year was 1/2 birthday, 1/2 Christmas so I wrapped it with 1/2 of each paper, ha!
We got him a new Fossil watch and he loved it!
D's teacher gave each kiddo in class a bag with a special note called "Magical Reindeer Food". Maybe you can double click the picture below and read the rhyme.
Here he is heading out on Christmas Eve to spread the food for Santa's reindeer.
It appeared to be oatmeal but with little flakes of red and green, so cute!
Then of course he wanted to shave (toy razor obviously) before his bath to get all ready for Christmas morning.
Then jump on the bed after he got his jammies on.....
Lastly, he put out Santa's milk and treats.  He was not asked to go to bed at all but put himself in there by 8p and was out shortly after.  Boy, I remember that too.  Rushing to bed early so morning would come faster!!
Shot of all the goods....

Good Morning Sunshine!  Come see what Santa brought!
An electric Scooter!

Razor E125 Electric Scooter
And finally (he asked last year but we thought 4 yrs old was too young) the Nintendo DS!
Nintendo DS Lite

He played with it all day, of course.  Even Kevin got a little addicted!
I had a cute Santa shirt ready for him to wear on Christmas Day.  You see that did not happen.  He wanted his new Longhorn shirt, plus his knee and elbow pads for his new scooter.....oh well, such a little boy now!
First go round.  Trying to get used to the fact that it can just take off if you don't let go of the throttle.
Really getting the hang of it.  I heart this smile on his face.
We took him to a flat parking lot since my in laws live on a hill.  It took him about 20 minutes to get it all figured out and get comfortable with it.
Lastly, the is probably the most deer I have seen at one feeding in their back yard.  Love the Access (sp?) deer with the white spots on them.
A very Happy Birthday to baby Jesus! Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight!

Kinder Christmas Party

I decided to take the whole day off the day of D's first "big school" party.  I signed up to volunteer helping with the set up as well as bringing a food item. There were a lot of parents that showed up! Our homeroom mom had a great idea for the teacher: a gift card wreath.  If you wanted to, you could donate a gift card of your choice for the wreath.  She attached them and presented it to his teacher at the party.  It came out really cute and I just loved the idea!
The craft project at the party was rice crispie snowmen.  They all had a fun time using the food supplies provided to come up with their own creations.  I worked with Dominic on his.  He was so excited I was there but he also had last day of school nervous energy! ha!

See that little smirk?  I love it!

Holiday Teacher gifts

Every year since D had his first Christmas, I have taken gifts to the teachers at his daycare.  Each room had 3-4 teachers at the time he was in that particular room and I know how hard they work!  I also know how much they appreciate and remember nice gestures!
Bath and Body Works seemed to be appropriate and who doesn't want some of that goodness?  I have stayed with that theme varying the basket or stocking it was presented in.

This year I did not get around to BBW before the Christmas crowd...boo.  I was stressed, it was jam packed and I just could not get in my grove for being cost efficient.  When I arrived at the register with 5 teachers worth of goodies, let's just say it neared $100......I was about to faint until the sweet girl who was ringing me up offered to help.  She took the time to help me with 4 lines going and people everywhere.  She showed me better sale items by going a little smaller and changing the scent. God Bless her soul, I was so grateful and she got me down to $38!
Here are the supplies for the 4 daycare teachers.
Mandarin Lime Hand Cream
Mandarin Lime Body Wash

A card from Santa
A candy cane filled with Reese's or....
One filled with Kisses.....

Pretty holiday bags from Walgreens with some Christmas polka dot tissue and done!

In addition to his before and after school teachers, he has Mrs Murphy, his all day Kinder teacher. Of course her basket was going to contain a little more!  Stuff bottom with shredded easter type grass.
Carefully position cute items purchased.  Could these alpha chocolates be any more appropriate for a teacher, ha!  Score!
Heavy Duty Christmas kitchen towels
Cute binder clips in all sizes with a post it note holder to match, 2 BBW lotions and 1 BBW perfume spray, etc.  I somehow forgot to get the last picture before covering with red toole.
I pulled red toole over the top from all sides and tied with some silver wire ribbon and stuffed little Christmas sprigs in for pizzaz.

Gotta go get ready for the Kinder party now!

After 6 years, I found it

Something to go on the wall above our bed!  Yay!
Here are my workers....er, the worker and his mini me.
Isn't she purty?  I think so.  And what makes her really purty?
The price tag.  Only $39.99 at Marshalls.  I had to get it.
p.s. I spy candy cane teacher gifts in the mirror, ha!
I realize in the photo, the wall still looks bare and the lamps look miniscule.  It must be the photo because it really does not look like that in person.  Plus I love my lamps plus eventually we are moving!
Happy Sunday, 6 days till Christmas - woo hoo!

Santa baby

He was so nervous he could hardly muster a request.....all he got out was the Nintendo DS.

I think Santa knows exactly what you meant to say, don't worry little fella.

It looks a teeny bit like Christmas!

We usually have everyone over for Christmas but not this year!  I could not justify putting out everything and you know what, I am FINE with that!  Actually it has been stress free knowing I was not going to have a house full.  I love having everyone here but this is a welcome break.

Of course there is a tree but it only has lights, ribbon, snowflakes and some balls.  I have two smaller trees that just stay decorated during storage so those came out as well.  Just a glimpse into what we have out.
Here is the tree with too much daylight/ flash.  The Santa pic is a new catalog purchase that came in the mail so he is on the mantel.
And here is no flash, much better.
Let me specify I was not going for a large candy cane in my living room "look". The white wire ribbon is new as I make my way to a lighter and brighter theme.  Golds, whites, creams, silver, etc.  Rome wasn't built in a day people.  This is 9 foot of goodness so it will take a while to affordably make it over, ha!  As in, after Christmas sales!
This guy was an after Christmas sale last year at Walgreens for $5, love those kinds of purchases!
I got out my silver trees, 3 nutcrackers and bought those two silver reindeer in the $1 section at Target.
That's it for the televisionscape....if you will.
There's the new picture plus my two gold trees and that completes the simple mantel.
A side shot of my trees that I might add were also an after Christmas sale a few years ago for just dollars!
Frosty, love him on the stairs with the faux poinsettia's.  I believe he was a 50% off Hob Lob purchase because I guarantee you he was not full price.
I believe his reindeer buddy came home the same day.  I loved having these when D was little(er) because he truly believed they were little peeps like him.  He would hug them and kiss them.
This happens to be D's own tree.  All ornaments were either made by him, gifted to him or he picked out.  Except some ornamental balls.  I spy a Texans mini ornament!
These balls are huge.  They came 6 in a large tube at Costco AFTER CHRISTMAS for $10.  I used them on some candle pillars.

K decorated the outside lights except the second story.  He too agreed this year, less is more!
Enjoy the holidays everyone!
