Pillow Pets? Pillow Pals?

So have you heard all the rage?  Those slick Saturday morning cartoon channel commercials have sucked in my 4 yr old.  He never watched TV much less Saturday morning cartoons until recently.  And there they were - the commercial with the Pillow Pets, or Pillow Pals - I have seen them called both.  We looked on line but thought with shipping & handling we might do better locally.  Well Toys R Us was sold out so we hit the mall kiosk.  Why yes, yes we did.  We paid a fortune. That's what being a parent means, after all.

They are cute and they are cuddly, just like my boy.

His sweet face hugging the pillow makes my heart melt.

If you can buy time until Christmas, you might try doing so!  ha!

Sunday NFL 2010

** Disregard my last post about Soccer Tots being a success.  No sooner did we show up for our second class and I handed the coach our $200 check, did Dominic decide to boycott the class....completely.  Legs crossed, hands in lap and sitting against the wall!  Nooooo!  I had to re-coup my money and apologize but they were well aware it wasn't going to work.  Unfortunately D thought he could just sit down and participate when he wanted......not for $200 son!

I am about a week late in posting this but there just never seems to be any 'spare' time.  If there is, I definitely chose to close my eyes instead of blog!  ha!

Well Daddy could not wait to kickoff the new football season and his meat of choice was brisket.  Well, it was what I chose since I was at the store and it was on sale!  I actually woke up early that morning probably because in all reality, I knew I could get 30-45 minutes of alone time before the sun came up.  Kevin mentioned he wanted to start his brisket by 7am so I went in to wake him and make sure that was still the plan.  He did get up and got the brisket prepped and the smoker lit...Not sure if the neighbors could smell their Folgers or our charcoal - ha!

After the little guy woke up and realized what all he had missed and asked all his questions, the sun came up and it was time for the Inagural Flag raising ceremony.  I bought Kevin a Titans flag to fly this year since that is his team.

We got Dominic dressed in his newest Texans jersey then pulled the two playing team helmets from Daddy's collection and placed them on the table below the TV before kick off. While I was preparing to have the neighbors over later Dominic got a little bored and decided to take the step ladder to the pantry for some entertainment.

Then he decided he was a fireman pushing his bucket full of toys around the house....

Kevin snapping pics of Jeff Fisher and the start of the Titans game.

Dominic kept going in and out saying he was putting out fires in the back (since he was a fireman) while Kevin was checking the brisket.  Eric and Bru came over for an early dinner and there was even a final swim taken by the boys before the pool was drained for the season.  K's Titans won so all in all it was a perfect day.  All we need now is some cool Fall weather!

And if this picture doesn't make you chuckle, I don't know what will, ha!

After 7 hours on the smoker, the brisket was a hit...

Soccer Tots and Fall Decorations

Yesterday was our first class (trial class) for Soccer Tots.  D is now 4.5 yrs old and he really needs to get involved in sports.  Problem is, this very outgoing child becomes timid in any new situation.  Not like the normal timid but the almost ridiculous timid.  These classes are age appropriate, last 11 weeks and cost quite a bit so we had to make sure he was going to participate. It's a weekly committment every Saturday as well.  Also, it's indoor soccer so that made it much better than melting in the 104 humidity!  Kevin and I have been talking it up for several weeks now.  At times he became interested and other times he completely shut down and said he did not want to do it.  I know in my heart of hearts I can get him to do things then he ends up loving it.  Here is how he started.  A frown on his face in the bleachers then staying very close to his dad on the field (parents can come on the field for as long as it takes the child to get comfortable)

He was being very stubborn and I could tell that Kevin was going to put him in the car so I had to intervene!  I have learned that I can "make" D do things slowly and he will end up liking it.  Take a look at how we were able to turn that frown upside down within 20 minutes!

His favorite thing was the parachute at the end.....Mission Accomplished!

Before we headed to Soccer Tots K and D washed the car and I finished up with my Fall Decorations.  D gets excited and touches them for a few days and re-arranges them a million times until the novelty wears off.  Here they are for now until Hob Lob has another great sale!

And notice the "Cars" umbrella D has while helping his dad wash the car, ha!

Next up, Football Sunday 2010!

16 years!

What feels like a lifetime....is!  Today marks the 16th anniversary I have been employed with this company.  Yes, one company - I was just a pup when I started back in 1994 at the little (one of the biggest) Sugarland office.  One good thing:  Had I never worked for ERAC, I would have never met my wonderful husband!  A co-worker set us up on a blind date 8 years ago. God knew exactly what he was doing.

Labor Day 2010

We headed to the beautiful Hill Country to see the in laws for the long weekend and visit Fiesta Texas with our season passes.  I did not realize that the camera setting was a bit off so quite a few pics came out blurry and most others had to be deleted.  Oh well!  We drove in on Friday afternoon thru rain and by the time we arrived in Kerrville the temps were 81 or so degrees......in September!  It was awesome.

Every late afternoon my FIL feeds the deer.  When Dominic arrives he is definitely a part of that.

And kissing his MeMe

MIL and FIL just returned from Hawaii the evening before we arrived.  FIL was showing us the "Lei" he was given upon their arrival and I believe he and Kevin are making the "Hang Ten" sign.  Interesting enough the women were given traditional flower lei's but the men's were black granite type rocks on a necklace (if you look closely)

After visiting for a while and playing outside (notice D's jacket in Sept!) it was time to cook homemade pizzas!

Then it was time to shower and shave - ha!

The next morning we woke to cool Fall temps and had a wonderful lunch with the whole gang at Mamacita's

Then we made our way to the "mall" in Kerrville.  Not too big but they do have a Bath & Body Works so Dominic helped us shop by strapping the bag to his back like a backpack and smelling everything he could get his hands on!

Dominic scored another Dump Truck along the way before we headed back to the house

Then we spent time hanging out, the girls were playing with Dominic, another deer feeding and lots of laptops going!

Kevin doing what he loves, BBQ'ing!

The next day we were scheduled to head to Six Flags.  Dominic had a cough for a little over a week and I thought I had it under control but it got worse. Sunday morning he woke up with fever but he decided he still wanted to head to Six Flags.  I gave him Tylenol and we headed out.  He only lasted about 2 hours then announced he was ready to go.  We knew then that he was not feeling so good.
(Kevin took him to the doctor on Tuesday and he had another sinus infection)

They have the all new Wiggles World that just opened in 2010.

Look closely and you can see Kevin and Dominic sitting in the middle of the roller coaster!

It was time to head out and daddy carried him since he was not feeling so good!
